In the 1990s, he revolutionized the field by developing fluoroscopy-guided spinal injection techniques and subsequently trained more than 60 physicians through his fellowship program (1994-2015).

Dr. Lagattuta served as a consultant for the Chicago Bulls during their 1995-96 season and received the prestigious Clinician of the Year award from the Physiatric Association of Spine, Sports, and Occupational Rehabilitation in 2002.
